HODGE PODGE DAY: TOOTHPASTE TIPS!
Today I'm sharing all the great toothpaste tips that
were sent in!
Did you know that toothpaste will also clean silver
jewelry, does a great job, so does lipstick...believe
it or not. Baking soda works well to clean stains
from the oven, (use a paste and one of those green
scrubbing cloths) and it will also clean the textured
surfaces on refrigerators using a very wet paste
and sponge. ~Nancy
Another amazingly good use for regular-plain-Colgate
toothpaste is to mix it about half and half with petroleum
jelly and use the paste to clean wooden musical
instruments! We learned this from our violin teacher
years ago and it does produce beautiful results.

I LOVE toothpaste! When I was growing up I use to
put a dab of toothpaste on a pimple, it would dry it out
and take away any inflammation (make sure to apply
JUST to the pimple)! Also, I was told by a jeweler to
use toothpaste to clean my wedding ring. Put a little
bit of toothpaste on an old toothbrush, run it under
water just to get it wet, then clean your rings. It makes
them sparkle and shine! ~Myra Lynne
White toothpaste also removes Kool-Aid/juice/Popsicle
stains from faces. ~Kim
You can also use toothpaste with fluoride for cleaning
silver flatware, saw my client use it today and it worked.
~Suzanne
My favorite use for toothpaste, other than cleaning teeth,
is to clean my diamond ring. When I worked in the
jewelry market we recommended this to customers often
because the slight abrasiveness cleans well but doesn't
harm the settings. Also when you do dishes or put hand
lotion on, take off your rings! Not only do you run the
risk of them slipping off and going down the drain but
grease sticks to diamonds and will make them dull. In
fact, when rocks are sorted for diamond bits they are
put on a belt coated with grease and then the rock is
washed away while the diamonds stick. ~Melissa B.
Use it with a baby's toothbrush to GENTLY clean your
jewelry. Don't brush too vigorously, and your jewelry,
especially marcasite, will come up gleaming. Dry with
a soft cloth. ~Elizabeth
When my brother was manager of an apartment complex,
he was taught to fill small holes left when removing nails,
etc where pictures had been hung. Using white toothpaste,
press the paste into the holes and dampening the finger
slightly, texture the paste to match the wall surface. Since
most of the walls were painted some shade of white, the
toothpaste didn't require any further coloration. But if
painting over it, that could be done quite soon as the paste
dries very quickly to accept the paint. ~Maggie
